Sunset of Techno Splash
Since 2000, YWCA Muskoka has run the
Techno Splash program for children ages 4 to 10 on PA Days, school
breaks and in the summertime. We have had tremendous participation
in this theme-based computer and arts program for seven years,
generating many positive experiences and memories for children and
program facilitators.
Over the past two years, YWCA Muskoka has
experienced a decline in enrollment, in large part due to the
growing number of excellent programs now offered by the Montessori
schools, municipalities, day cares, day camps, and arts and sports
associations. Children and parents now have more choices for
activities in Muskoka on school holidays.
The demand for YWCA Muskoka school-based
programs is growing. We now offer Girlz Unplugged in sixteen
elementary schools. We offer Girlz Choice in all area high school,
an eight week program for girls seeking support in coping with
personal, social or academic challenges. Our speaker series,
Careers On and Off the Beaten Path, is also delivered at all four
Muskoka area high schools.
As the demand for Techno Splash is
declining, we have made the decision to discontinue this program in
2008.
To the parents and the children who have grown up with us through
Techno Splash, we thank you.
Best wishes,
Hannah Lin
Youth Program Coordinator
