Donna Kearney, Community Relations Coordinator

I graduated from nursing in 1988 from BCIT in Vancouver and worked as an RN in three provinces. In 2003 I graduated

from Laurentian University with a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) certificate, and a Gerontology degree.  In 2008 I graduated from Athabasca University with a Masters of Health Studies – Leadership Stream.  I have taught as adjunct lecturer in the Roles and Responsibilities NP Program through Queens University and for the RN program at Nipissing University and at Georgian College in the PSW program.

My NP career includes working at the Rosseau Nursing Station for 13 years, and starting my own consulting company, ‘Rural Health Solutions’. I wrote the proposal for Rural Health Hubs, in collaboration with the District of Muskoka, and which was funded in 2015 as a 3 year demonstration project.  The project was awarded permanent funding in 2018 and is administered through the Family Health Teams.  I co-wrote the Muskoka Community Health Links Business Plan for the District of Muskoka, which was also funded.  I have been involved in several local health system projects, have sat on several provincial advisory committees, and served on the Board of the Nurse Practitioners Association of Ontario.

I live in Muskoka with my loving and supportive husband and my dog, Bella.  I am the proud mother of three adult daughters and two adult step sons.  I enjoy the seasons, I enjoy change, and I strive to make the world a better place through my actions.
