A real need for community programs that address the mental health of children - blog post image

In my work at Children’s Aid, I see a real need for community programs that address the mental health of children. In particular, there are challenges for girls in terms of self esteem, body image and healthy relationships. I hear from my own children that the prevalence of cell phones and social media makes growing up more of a challenge than ever, as there is constant judgment and feedback from others that children find it hard to escape. The YWCA supports programs that I hear about all the time in my work as making a positive difference in the lives of girls. I walked in order to support these programs and the young women in our community.
