Girlz Choice

Girlz Choice is a ten-week school-based life skills program supporting secondary school girls. Girls participate on a voluntary basis and may be recommended to the program by the school guidance or Student Success teams.

Currently all YWCA Muskoka youth programs are postponed due to COVID-19.  These programs include Girlz Unplugged, Girlz Choice and Boys Quest.  We hope to resume our programming when schools reopen.  If you have any questions please contact our Youth Programs Coordinator, Stacey Schat at sschat@ywcamuskoka.com.

For girls in grades 9 and 10. Offered at all four Muskoka secondary schools.

Girlz Choice is a ten-week school-based life skills program supporting secondary school girls. Girls participate on a voluntary basis and may be recommended to the program by the school guidance or Student Success teams. A youth driven program, Girlz Choice participants identify the issues they want to discuss. These often include relationships, drugs and alcohol, body image, sex, recognizing signs of abuse, family, stress and mental wellbeing. Sessions are held during class time. Together with a YWCA facilitator they explore personal goals, choices, alternative paths and opportunities.

We offer the Girlz Choice programs at four Muskoka area secondary schools in partnership with each school's Student Success programs.

Girlz Choice is funded by Shoppers Drug Mart's 'Growing Women's Health' campaign, The Rotary Club of Huntsville, The Rotary Club of Gravenhurst and the supporters of YWalk for Women and Girls.
